Connect to home Wi-Fi or ensure strong cellular coverage.
Low battery can cause the update to stall midway.
Ensure the vehicle is in Park (P) with the electronic parking brake engaged.
Navigate to your vehicle's center display screen:
Go to Settings > System > Software Updates (varies by brand like Tesla, MBUX, or iDrive).
Click Check for Updates.
If an update is available, tap Download. You can usually continue driving while the file downloads in the background.
Once downloaded, select Install Now or schedule it for late night.
Important: During installation, the vehicle cannot be driven, and touchscreen functions will momentarily turn off.
After 15–45 minutes, turn on your vehicle. A confirmation popup will show the Release Notes listing new features and bug fixes.
